We Stand at a Threshold.
Our worlds – physical, social and political – are starting to unravel. Collectively, business as usual seems likely to lead to suffering and destruction on a planetary scale. Individually, old ways of behaving seem increasingly out of step.
But this is also a moment of immense possibility. As old patterns and beliefs break up, they make room for the new. Many of us yearn to make sense of the increasingly confusing events around us, to ‘stay with the trouble’ and learn its lessons, and find our work amid societal upheaval. It is time to reweave ourselves.
Something is dying – and something is seeking to be born. What is it? What might we dare to imagine? What shall we do?

April 2027
Harvard Professor Rebecca Henderson, award-winning author of Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire, has developed a new course to help students answer these questions. Following three years of course development – teaching a course that has enrolled students from every professional school at Harvard except dentistry – Professor Henderson is putting this course online so this work can reach those who might need it most.
From February to April 2027, she will teach a diverse cohort of twenty-five participants free of charge. If you are accepted into the course, you will meet weekly with the other participants to discuss a wide range of readings, listen to a (few, brief!) lectures, and engage in a series of powerful experiential exercises. With fellow deep thinkers and engaged professionals, you will explore together how we arrived at this terrifying moment, explore both the inner and outer aspects of systems change, and consider what it means to be a leader who uses power in the service of love.
The course will be filmed, edited, and released online – so it’s possible that your participation will support thousands of others in finding ways to engage effectively with these difficult times.

Twenty-five people will sit in this room, and we are choosing them with great care. We are looking for a particular quality of attention. For people who read closely, arrive with questions, and listen as well as they speak. We want folks who can hear an idea they disagree with without hardening, speak their doubts without making the room smaller, and can change their mind in public. People who are deeply interested in ideas but who also want to make a difference in the world.
We are hoping for people with developed practices for cultivating their inner dimensions and others who are just curious. We want parents and grandparents, and people from different continents and many walks of life – from business to art to science to activism.
We need people willing to be present. Twelve weeks is a long commitment, and the experiential work will ask you to engage playfully and deeply, to feel what you feel, and then to find words that the rest of us can feel too.
